Tonight Im thankful for: 1. Another warm sunny day...Im thinking we are ready for more rain however. 2. All hail green grass! Today, it finally looks pretty good. 3. A longer walk...each day if it kills me! I gotta get legged up! 4. The Band Tailed Pigeon in the cabin yard today. It felt like a harbinger of spring! I THINK...I heard an Oriole today as well! 5. The blessing of happy horses... Tonights five for five on...getting organized~ “The point of simple living, for me has got to be: A soft place to land~ A wide margin of error~ Room to breathe~ Lots of places to find baseline happiness in each and every day” Leo Babauta~ “Collaborative production is simple: no one person can take credit for what gets created, and the project could not come into being without the participation of many.” Clay Shirky~ (I am reminded of the great Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA) collaborative projects.) “Clutter is the physical manifestation of unmade decisions fueled by procrastination” Christina Scalise~ (Amen, now how do you fix it?) “Hanging onto a bad buy will not redeem the purchase.” Terence Conran~ “For the last hundred years the big organizational question has been whether any given task was best taken on by the state, directing the effort in a planned way, or by businesses competing in a market.” Clay Shirky~ (I want thinking about this scale, but the man has a point.) “Like creating a masterpiece, quitting is an art: you have to decide what to keep within the frame and what to keep out.” Richie Norton~ (This is so true!) None of us likes to use the word quit, but you have to pick the hill youre going to die on....if not, someone will pick it for you and THATS...worse than quitting. From an artistic standpoint, you must also know when to quit. Ive made some gorgeous wedding cakes, but the piping on some of them became elaborate to the extreme, and I think the beauty of simplicity was lost. I hope your week is going well! Deb~
