Tonight September 20, 2014 on Me TV: Adventures of Superman (1) The Monkey Mystery First Aired October 17, 1952 - The daughter of an Eastern European scientist flees to the United States to give a secret formula to the president before the communists who killed her father can get to it, and Lois receives information on her whereabouts from an organ grinder and his monkey. Trivia: This episode reuses three actors from last weeks episode The Haunted Lighthouse, Allene Roberts, Bill Challee and Steve Carr. Adventures of Superman (2) Night of Terror First Aired October 24, 1952 - While on vacation, Lois stumbles upon a ring of criminals who are smuggling fugitives into Canada. She and the innkeepers wife are captured, and it is up to Jimmy and Superman to save them. Trivia: In a nod to the Fleischer Studios, on a shelf in the office of the Restwell Motel is not one, but two Popeye figurines. Batman (part 1) Pop Goes the Joker First Aired March 22, 1967 - That harlequin of homicidal humor, the Joker, appears at Parks Gallery, where he sprays paint all over the exhibit of the latest works of artist Oliver Muzzy. Alfred, who coincidentally happened to be present during the proceedings, secretly alerts his employer by phone as to the Jokers antics. The Dynamic Duo speed to the gallery by Batmobile, only to be taken by surprise at Muzzys delight by Jokers spray paints pop art effects, and he offers him a partnership! Unable to apprehend the Joker, the terrific twosome depart for the Batcave to await his next move. Trivia: Cesar Romero refused to shave off his trademark mustache when he played the role of the Joker on Batman. Close observation shows how the white clown makeup was applied right over his much loved mustache. Batman (part 2) Flop Goes the Joker First Aired March 23, 1967 - As the future seems bleak for Boy Wonder, Bruce blocks the mechanical works of the mobile with himself and his chair, long enough for Robin to work himself loose and use one of the flailing knives to deactivate the mechanism. Returning to see if the mobile has completed its diabolical duty, the Joker and his crooked cronies are jumped on by Bruce and Boy Wonder. While they pin the henchmen to a wall with carefully thrown palette knives, Joker begs for Baby Janes forgiveness; feeling sorry for him, she arranges for his freedom. She then takes him back home with her, where, during a chicken dinner, Joker covers her antique table with paint and has his henchmen chop it up. He convinces the gullible Baby Jane that he has turned her table into a work of art, and she lets him replace the priceless Renaissance art collection in her fathers wing at the museum with the tables painted remains. Trivia: Cesar Romeros evil laugh as the Joker on Batman was created almost by accident. Shortly after being cast, Romero met with producers to discuss his role on the series. While waiting to meet with them, he happened to see conceptual art of the Jokers costuming. Romero felt that the pictures almost look absurd, and as a result, spontaneously broke out into a playfully loud and almost manic laughter. A producer overhearing that laughter, responded by telling Romero Thats it, thats your Jokers laugh!. Wonder Woman Time Bomb First Aired November 10, 1978 - Cassandra Loren uses a Time Portal to travel from 2155 back to 1978 and make herself a fortune in a time when that still meant something. Adam Clement, the Time Portals inventor, follows Cassandra in order to stop her. He is quick to contact the I.A.D.C. (because his grandfather worked for them around the year 2000) and Diana Prince in particular. Trivia: Adam refers to a nuclear apocalypse in 2007, but the actions in this episode may have changed that chronology. Cassandra complains that Wonder Woman is also active in the 23rd Century, indicating Diana is either extremely long-lived or has been succeeded, although the closing scene implies she expects to be around in 2155. At one point, I.R.A.C. is about to disclose a secret to Adam, potentially its conclusion that Diana Prince is really Wonder Woman, but theyre interrupted. Check local listings for time.
