Tonight, as I cleared the dinner table, Naomi - after eating every last bit that I gave her - makes a puss face. Im not about to let that escalate into a full on cry, so I go to the sink saying, dinners finished, are you still hungry? what do you want?. Plain as day, in a quiet voice (for once), she says, cookie. OMGsh, Im laughing, but I want to cry happy tears, but instead I have to get her a cookie and pronto because by golly she just made a request, she expressed her wants and needs, and for the first time, I think we just had a real conversation!!! O.M.Gsh!!!!!! And, this comes on the tail of a trip to Kroger earlier in the day where she got a sample of a pretzel thin and kept asking for pretzels. I had to find a bag and tear into them while we shopped! I cant believe this - she is getting so good at expressing herself!! YAY!!!!
