Tonight as I tucked my oldest daughter, Ella, into bed I felt compelled to talk with her about Joey. We tend to get so caught up in things we forget that the little ones have hearts as big as the universe and thoughts deeper than any person could ever imagine. She told me how Joeys last words to her were thank you...she had made him a certificate thanking him for being the best uncle and wishing him a late happy birthday and gave it to him the night before he passed away. My brother truly was the best uncle. He was at every party, there for every big event, and even watched my girls when they were sick. He played the girls Taylor Swift songs over and over because they loved them and watched cartoons with them... he would invite them into his room when on Skype with people and very rarely ever wanted to be left alone...he always had time for them. My girls learned to walk by pushing his chair until he just couldnt take it anymore... they learned to pull up by using his foot plates on his chair and while most children stared with curiosity, Joey being in a chair was normal to them. As she talked about him, little tears ran down her face and she explained that every morning during her moment of silence at school, she says Good Morning to him and every night before she goes to bed, she says Goodnight to him and that he keeps her safe everyday and helps her sleep good every night. He was such a huge part of so many peoples lives, especially my daughters and he never made excuses... he just did it. Ella lobes to watch his videos on YouTube and sing along and tells me about all the comments on them. Tonight she told me about Joeys nice friend Alyssa...children are always watching so be mindful of your actions/comments. Joey always was and if he spoke out of line he would apologize later. He was SO Humble! I know he taught my girls huge life lessons that they will always carry with them...ones I hope he also taught others.
