Tonight, as I watch CNNs coverage of the rioting in Ferguson - TopicsExpress

Tonight, as I watch CNNs coverage of the rioting in Ferguson following the announcement that the Grand Jury isnt indicting Darren Wilson, I cant help but feel defeated again. I felt l this way following the deliberation of the Trayvon Martin case. Frankly, im tired of feeling this way. Its a sickening notion that someone can shoot and kill an unarmed child and not face a SINGLE consequence! I wont label Darren Wilson a murder as I truly dont believe he set out with intent to end someones life. However his actions still resulted in a mother and father losing a son, and community losing one of its young men. So many of us will be upset over the seemingly evident message that Black lives are not valued in our country; a country whose financial foundation is owed largely in part due to the free labor provided by our ancestors, as well as the andvances in civil rights and equal freedoms, contirbitutions to culture and soo much more, seemingly does not value the lives of its black citizens. However, more thant that, this isnt JUST about Mike Brown being black and Darren Wilson being white. The lack of indictment shows me that our police are regarded as not having to abide by the same rules as us non law enforcement citizens. We the PEOPLE, can kill and murder one onther, be put to trial, be sentenced and become another statistic within this countrys prison industrial money making machine, however, a Police officer, the men & women who made a professional commitment to uphold, enforce, and protect the laws, can break them with little or no consequence?!?!?! I personally, never had a problem with police. The majority of the experiences Ive ever had involving them, were by in large amicable. Yet as I get older and Ive witnessed some of the unlawful, unjustifiable, and unnecessary actions that have been commited by law enforcement in recent years, less and less do have faith in them, and more and more do I pray I wont need them or to interact with them on any personal level. I ask for those who are law enforcement officers, please be concerned enough to give testimony to any wrongful actions, excessive force, profiling, etc. that you witness as you serve! Because it is the apathy of others that leads to the detriment of us all! These men, women, and boys that have been shot and killed these past few years could be your brothers/sisters, daughters/sons, neices/nephews, freinds. This system will let us down if those who are granted the priviledges and powers to protect it, dont do thier jobs! Tonight, THAT job was not done, just as on AUGUST 9TH, the job was not done! This should have NEVER resulted in that!#Ferguson #nojusticenopeace
