Tonight at 10pm: Meet Brittany Maynard... The 29-year-old California woman battling stage 4 brain cancer is planning her own death. To even tell you the amount of relief that it provides me to know that I dont have to die the way that its been described to me that my brain tumor would take me on its own This week Maynard, who is an only child, launched a video campaign to advocate for laws to allow terminally-ill people to end their own lives. Currently, five states allow the practice and California is not one of them, so Maynard moved to Oregon. On November first, two days after her husbands birthday, she will ingest medication that will end her life peacefully and painlessly. I hope to enjoy however many days I have left on this beautiful earth, and spend as much of it outside as I can, surrounded by those I love. I hope to pass in peace. The reason to consider life and whats of value is to make sure youre not missing out; seize the day. Whats important to you, what do you care about, what matters? Pursue that; forget the rest. Maynard says she plans to die in her bedroom surrounded by her immediate family. As part of her legacy, shes launched a nationwide campaign to bring death by dignity laws to more states.
