Tonight at Cinema du Chien we are watching This Property is Condemned (1966), a film I didnt know about until tonight. Apparently the film didnt do all that well when it was released and Tennessee Williams hated it. Perhaps the actors are too likable and sweet for Williamss story, except for Robert Redford...hes just unlikable and flat, but thats Robert Redford. Even though the story feels uneven, it is a simple pleasure. I am enjoying it. And it is filmed in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, a town I have visited. Bay St. Louis was destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Every house and building on the shoreline was washed away by the storm surge. Not one remains.
