Tonight is Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel. Amigours Derech Hashalom Sheltered Home in Tel Aviv held a memorial service in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day that was attended by Jewish Agency representatives from the USA and Amigours Holocaust survivors. You could feel the strong emotions as Tova Adler, a woman who arrived at Aushwitz at the age of 14, and Semion Rosenfield, one of the last survivors of the uprising in the Sobibor death camp, both residents in this Amigour Home, lit the memorial torch in front of the monument in memory of Alexander Pechersky, who was the leader of the Sobibor death camp uprising. Semion held everyone captive as he related his story of bravery and survival in the Sobibor death camp, how he fought in the Red Army and was among the liberators of Berlin. The Amigour Bat Yam Choir touched peoples hearts as they sang and there wasnt a dry eye in the audience. The memorial service ended with the proud singing of Hatikva.
