Tonight is the Ride of Silence, and Amy will be leading a contingent of riders from the White Oak store at 7pm and hooking up with the main body of riders along the route on Washington. For those of you who participate in this memorial event, please remember that the ride is to be done in total silence. There will be plenty of time for socializing after the ride, but while the official ride is rolling please use hand signals and limit the verbal communication to emergencies only. Radios and other music devices should be off for the duration of the ride. The Bike Fight will still be on, with the route and time unchanged. Theres a strong possibility that Bike Fight will cross paths with the RoS, so those participating in the Bike Fight are asked to please be respectful and yield to the RoS if necessary. For all of those who cant make it to the Ride of Silence tonight, wed like to ask that each of you spend a few quite moments today reflecting on the love and friendship of your families and riding companions. Most of us reading this post have experienced more than a few wonderful and transformational experiences in our lives through the power of the bicycle, and wed ask that each of you take some time to be grateful for the opportunities that youve had and remember those cyclists who are no longer with us. Its been a tough couple of years for cyclists in Houston, and its time to gather together and begin creating the community that we all long for. We love yall, and hope to ride ride with you for many more years. bikehouston.org/2014/05/bikehouston-leads-ride-of-silence-as-part-of-worldwide-movement-in-over-350-cities/
