Tonight karter saw his foot specialist. Was a great session he took loads of notes and we discussed HEAPS. It has been recomended that karter use theratogs (which im still researching exactly what they are) but from what I gather it is basically a suit to aid postural positioning and muscle tone. While karter doesnt have actual bone deformities in his feet or legs(yet) he is heading in the direction of developing them due to his toe walking and pronating of his right foot and supernating of his left foot. He said all his walking and posturing issues in that area is due to the rest of his body and his condition that basically its like trying to build a house on quicksand that you will be able to get it up but over time its going to deteriorate. So we now go back through physio to get theratogs as a last resort before a special type of afos (ankle foot orthosis). Hearing that his issues are stemming from poor trunk control and overall poor muscle tone and control we are also looking into postural seating aids for when hes really struggling as the pram is not providing enough trunk and hip support. So fingers crossed the theratogs work but we are still likely to end up with a special type of afo with a wedged heel which over time will be made smaller and smaller with the aim of getting him walking properly.. xo K & A
