Tonight live at PBC: 8 BALL AITKEN THE NERVOUS INVESTORS LOVEBITES Former-banana-picker-turned-guitar-picker, 8 Ball Aitken blazes into town this week for his annual visit back home. For the past ten years or so, he has been steadily on tour across Australia and 16 other countries and released seven albums. 8 Ball is known for fusing his own original swamp-country-blues sound which has won him swag of blues awards and nominations. 8 Ball Aitken is a real-deal Aussie character who rattles the roof, stomps the planks, and gets his audiences whooping and hollering along in a frenzy of pure exuberance. He plays a sizzling hot blend of original country, blues and roots music. 8 Balls material delivers a fresh serve of honk, stomp, Aussie swamp music, straight from the Mareeba Delta -- roots music with balls. As an employee of the Australian government, he has toured Fiji three times, performing music as a cultural ambassador on behalf of DFAT and Austrade. Lez Karski and the Nervous Investors first came together at the Esperance Yacht Club for a New Years Eve gig in 2000. Since that fateful night, theyve toured Australia both as an independent rock/blues trio and as a backing band for visiting overseas acts. Theyve also toured Germany, Holland and Poland, fuelled by local beverages, and lived to tell the tale! Their brand of blues is solid, intelligent and impassioned. Their performances feature R’n’B ballads, scorching guitar driven blues classics and some rather animated covers, executed in the unique Investors’ way. These guys have been around and done the miles. A classic three-piece at its raw best! Long-time PBC favourites Lovebites play rocknroll and blues with a distinct Stones vibe. Led by Phil Bennett on vocals and honky tonk piano; the line-up also includes John Chopping (Indigo Duck) on his six-stringed electric thing, John Talati with his slinky cool bass lines and rock solid Fabian (Valentines, Dave Hole) hitting skins with sticks. With some swingin slidin dancin grooves and a smattering of choice moody ballads, Lovebites will entice you to listen and encourage you to dance. All you have to do is enjoy!
