Honored to be having NYC-based guitarist and composer Jon Madof on the program this evening to talk about his newest release Adramelech with Afrobeat fusion band Zion 80 performing songs from John Zorns acclaimed Book of Angels series on Tzadik Records. Gonna be a really incredible evening of music and conversation. Well be discussing his unique fusion of the musical stylings and songbook of Jewish folk singer (and peer of Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger) Shlomo Carlebach with the polyrhythmic explosions of Fela Kuti and the avant-garde, as well as working with Zorn, the role of faith and spirituality in his life and compositions, and the power of music to reach across ethnic divides and speak to our common humanity in a universal language.
