Tonight on the Military Channel at 10 p.m. In the fall, Tom Brokaw with NBC did an interview with our own Mark DiPalmo (ZID formerly of ZNY) for a 9/11 follow-up piece. In this follow-up piece, Tom retells the story of having interviewed the original group of air traffic controllers and then Mark’s new interview is in the last five minutes of the program. The program will air tonight on the Military Channel at 10 p.m. E/P. Below is a description: In the chaos of 9/11, the men and women controlling the communication in the skies above America had to piece together a tragic puzzle. One year after the attacks, Brokaw sat down for an exclusive interview with these heroic air traffic controllers to discuss the events of this unimaginable attack on America’s homeland and the lessons learned. More than a decade later, the Military Channel catches up with one of those controllers about how the events of 9/11 forever changed the industry and the lives of air traffic controllers. Last night, Tom was on the Late Show with David Letterman and talked about the 9/11 controllers piece that will air tonight. Below is a highlight from their discussion and link to the full clip from the Late Show. DAVID LETTERMAN: "It was my impression that these guys, of all the first responders … these guys, the air traffic controllers, responded early and got the job done immediately." TOM BROKAW: "It was amazing and there were no rules for it." s3.amazonaws/TVEyesMediaCenter/UserContent/48973/2005516.3051/WTVADT2_06-12-2013_23.12.40.mp4
