Tonight we said goodbye to our precious Mindy. Shed struggled a great deal this past week, and the moment Rob and I talked about letting go was the moment she told us she was ready. She had a small seizure, so Rob scooped her up and I called the very kind vet who came to our house and sent her to the Rainbow Bridge. It was peaceful and calm, with soft music and candles while Rob held her and I stroked her back. Mindy was 18, 126 in human years, and so very loved. Shes been through breakups, new girlfriends (me!), 3 moves (1 across country), and she lost her best pal Mike 2 years ago. I know some say its silly to believe, but for tonight, Im going to believe that Mike and my Wenzday are waiting for her at this mystical bridge. Theyll show her where fields of tall grass and wildflowers sway in the soft breeze and the sun shines warm on her precious face. Theyll run like they used to when their bodies were youthful, dine on some of her favorites like steak, french fries and pizza crust and catch up on everything thats happened like theyve never been apart. Itll be just like old times...So for tonight, thats what Im going to believe. RIP, pretty girl. I hope where you are is as full of joy as you were. :)
