Tonight we watched the movie Gods Not Dead. This is a great movie with some awesome story lines. But, this movie has a little more meaning in my mind than an awesome song and a good message. You see, a couple of years ago Tammy had her surgery to remove the majority of her tumor in California. Most of you probably watched on Facebook as the week and day unfolded. The emotions that I had that day were amazing. It was possibly the longest day ever. While I cant remember every last minute of that day, I will always remember what happened at the end of the day. Once the doctor was done, they called us upstairs. My nephew and I were walking to the final waiting room, eagerly waiting to hear we could go see her. I caught the sight of her bed being wheeled into the recovery room and my heart skipped a beat. I had no idea how she would feel, how she would recover or if she would still be the same person she was that morning. It can be surprising what your mind can think up in the blink of an eye. I prayed for God to give me strength and to please let me know beyond a doubt all was well. They called us in and there she was, I will never forget it. It was rough. As a husband, I am to provide and protect. Seeing my wife in that condition was not easy. She was about 80% asleep but was awake enough to speak. I bent over, gave her a kiss and she whispered in my ear...Gods not dead. Not only did He send a message through the first thing Tammy said, she followed that statement of truth with Can I have some coffee? God let me know he is there and so was Tammy. So as you can see, this simple statement of Gods not dead seems like a great catch phrase. Its an awesome song. Its a great reminder of the most basic understanding of being a Christian. But to me, it was an answer to prayer directly from the One who is really not dead. He is evident in everything from the most complex, to the most simple, yet he cared enough to comfort me. At the end of the movie, Willie Robertson suggest that everyone text all their contacts and tell them Gods not dead. I am here to follow that suggestion and let you know that it is a true statement and to share one of the many instances that God has proven to me He is there.
