Tonight we welcome the Old Full Moon. How odd. An Old Moon and a New Year…. So in honor of the Old Moon, here’s an article from Nautilus that considers one of the oldest Moon mysteries: why does the Moon appear larger when it rises than when it’s overhead? Now you may have thought that we already have the answer to this question, but apparently not. Modern researchers are joining the ranks of Ptolemy, Descartes and Newton in the quest for an answer to the riddle of the Moon illusion.
