Tonight, while I was sketching the outline of my most recent - TopicsExpress

Tonight, while I was sketching the outline of my most recent picture, I realised that the things I find most beautiful and interesting are the things that arent there. The spaces between objects and the shapes created by them rather than the objects themselves. I find the most boring things beautiful. There is nothing in the picture I started tonight, it is just a figure in profile wearing a simple straight up, straight down outfit. No pattern or complicated texture, but I love it. Its got such a definite place in the middle of the page. I like edges, and blocks and contrasts and when empty spaces are more striking than the things that surround them. I wish I could explain this properly, then maybe I could talk my way into a full time illustration career!
