Tonights Dad Facts: Spuds, Tonight you play at the Sound Academy in Toronto, Ontario … the most populous city in Canada. It is also the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who in my opinion, have the best home uniforms in all of sports. When I was a boy, they had terrific teams. Originally, the city was called York, but was renamed Toronto in 1834. It likely was first inhabited by the Wyandot people, and then the Iroquois. The Toronto music scene has a rich past. In the sixties, one could listen to Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young in the Toronto clubs. I suspect RUSH is the most famous band associated with the Toronto area. One cool thing about Toronto is PATH (Toronto) … it is the longest underground pathway in North America and when looked at in its entirety, would be considered the largest underground shopping complex probably anywhere. And though these things can change quickly, the CN Tower / La Tour CN is the tallest free standing structure in the world … I think. And one more thing … Yonge Street is the longest street in the world … it runs for over 1,000 miles.
