Tonights YAUFR Commission meeting was a very special event, as several firefighters were recognized for their extraordinary efforts. Michael Freet was promoted to the rank of captain, with his wife Lori present to pin his captains badge on him for the first time. Captain Freet was fortunate to have a host of family and friends present to support him in this career milestone. Firefighters Les Rhoads and Joe Stoppard were recognized with operational commendations for saving the lives of two teenagers caught at a low head dam earlier this year. FF Rhoads and FF Stoppard will also be recognized later this week at the American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast for this successful water rescue. Young Brayden Pinto was presented with an honorary firefighter certificate and YAUFR t-shirts by Chief McCoy and Captain Arnold. Brayden has become quite the friend to several of our firefighters and pays regular visits to the fire station. Firefighter Kevin Krout was awarded an administrative commendation for his contributions in the relocation to our few fire station and continual efforts to assist with many aspects of station maintenance. Captain Matt Arnold was presented with the 2014 Fire Chiefs Award for his commitment to organizing and administering the relocation process for the department. Tonight celebrated the commitment of our personnel to their department and the community. We look forward to many more opportunities to recognize outstanding efforts of our YAUFR members and to join with their families to celebrate their actions and accomplishments.
