Tonights album is the 1968 self titled début release by Steppenwolf and featuring the track Born to be wild. The band was formed in LA by Goldy The song Born to be wild was prominently featured in the 1969 movie Easy rider, the song coined the phrase Heavy Metal and spawned the genre reference but the lyric is referring to motorcycles not music. The band only lasted in its original line up until 1972 but briefly reunited in 1974, today theres only one original member left. In their short four years they had four gold records, 9 top forty hits and 2 #1 singles.
