Tonights episode of THE MUSKETEERS on BBC America is very interesting. In this incarnation of the story, Porthos heritage as African and French is brought into focus when he discovers a prisoner they are to escort to the King Of France is a slave trader. Porthos finds blue prints of a slave ship complete with a diagram of how the slaves were sandwiched into the holds. In a terrific scene he goes ballistic. The trader says hes not prejudice---its just business. Unfortunately slavery is not a crime says Athos so they must fulfill their mission of bringing this guy in. Other twists and turns occur in this episode to make it especially poignant. In the handling of this subject matter inside of a classic context, the Brits totally outstrip American Television.
