Tonights event was a major success. Right2Water and the Detroit Water Brigade were well received at an event hosted by Crumlin Says No as part of an initiative supported by all Dublin 8,10 and 12 groups. The attentive audience were informed how moderate water charges that were introduced in Detroit twenty years ago by the Local Authority have now climbed incrementally to a level that most families cannot afford to pay with the consequence water supply shut offs are rampant. They accredited all involved in Ireland and especially those on the frontline resisting meter installations, risking their liberty. The visitors were treated to a brilliant floor show display by the Phoenix Dance and Variety Group.Their pieces were given rapturous applause. The event was attended by about three hundred. Tomorrow our visitors will join us at the National Assembly as guests of the R2W Campaign. Dublin 8 & 12 groups are assembling at St Patricks Close on Kevin Street at 11.30an and are marching to the Main Stage Event on Merrion Street which will be held between 1pm and 4pm. Following the conclusion of the R2W Main Stage Event at 4pm people attending late or wishing to stay on are encouraged to support a proposal by eirigi,People Before Profit,Socialist Party and some Independent Community Groups to March from the National Assembly to Kildare Street. More information regarding this will be available on the day.
