Tonights song comes from an English band that got their songs - TopicsExpress

Tonights song comes from an English band that got their songs inspiration from an American writer who got his inspiration from an English poet. Tender is the first song from Blurs album, 13. The line, tender is the night, comes from the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same name. Fitzgerald got his line from Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats. Its interesting how the inspiration went from England to the U.S. and back again. I wonder if someone in the U.S. will write something based off of Tender by Blur? While the lyrics for the song were written by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, the song is about Damons breakup with Elastica frontwoman Justine Frischmann. The novel Tender is the Night has the theme of becoming strong by destroying another. I wonder if Albarn saw himself as a parasite in his relationship with Justine? (or the other way around?) Only those two (and maybe Coxon) know for sure. Although Im giving you the video for this, I prefer the album version. The video was recorded live instead of using the album cut (heard here: youtube/watch?v=P_OK_H8F2g0). The live version isnt bad, but I prefer the polish of the studio version. - Mr. Big #Blur #Tender #FScottFitzgerald #JohnKeats
