Tonights tasting from 5-7... Kingman Estates Winery The Kingman Winery started with a dream, 10 acres and a barn in the Grand Valley of the Colorado River, near Palisade. Really, it started with a dream and a strong desire to create Colorado Wines that are equal to, or better, than wines from other great wine producing regions throughout the world. The unique climate and soil conditions in the Grand Valley of Colorado yield a grape with outstanding characteristics enabling the production of uniquely exquisite wines. Doug Kingman will be here to tell us all about their Colorado wines. Kingman Viognier – 2013 – Colorado - Contains vibrant fruit and floral aromas that yield a clear, crisp drinking wine. Pairs well with spicy cuisine. Anyone who professes a love for full-bodied, rich, white wines must get pretty bored with chardonnay. But what else is there – alongside the crisper, lighter sauvignons, pinot grigios and rieslings – that tastes ripe, juicy and packed with sunny fruit flavors? The answer is viognier. Indeed, there are a few who prefer viognier to chardonnay, possibly because it doesnt tend to be as heavily oaked. Instead, it majors on scented, juicy apricot and peach, with wafts of honeysuckle, lily and white blossom, a weighty texture and low-acid, dry finish.* Kingman Marv’lous 1680 – 2012 – Colorado – 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 23% Riesling - A sophisticated blend of 3 great wines providing advantages of each while creating a unique palate pleasing experience. A red blend that is well-balanced, light in body, a wild rose aroma with a hint of new leather and a pleasant spicy finish. Pairs well with a variety of meats and cheeses.* Kingman Merlot – 2012 – Colorado - When I taste a wine I either like it or not and that is my analysis made in the blink of an eye. Kingman Merlot is a medium bodied wine that explodes in a festival of black currant and blackberry with hints of bilberry; and I like it.* Kingman Cabernet Sauvignon – 2012 – Colorado - A rich, purple hue with blackberry nose, medium body, peppery with a compliment of cedarwood and a smooth finish. This rich Cab streams into the glass, settling into a dark burgundy in the bottom as you inhale the aromatic scent of centuries of creating the perfect antidote to a life of labor.* *These wines are 10% off the night of the tasting. Cheers!
