Tony Blairs delusion Today Tony Blair has called for an urgent intervention in Iraq and said stopping the ICIS Jihadist terrorists advance is in our national interest. While I agree that ICIS is is a brutal force and disastrous for the entire region Blairs denial of his responsibility for destabilising Iraq and the entire region by his misguided foreign policies is nothing short of breathtaking lunacy.. He said, We have to liberate ourselves from the notion that we have caused this. We havent. We can argue as to whether our policies at points have helped or not: and whether action or inaction is the best policy. But the fundamental cause of the crisis lies within the region not outside it. I agree with Boris Johnson that Tony Blair has gone mad and washing his hands off his complicity in the Iraq war and subsequent crisis is not going to make him look sane! I remember my encounter with this delusional and egotistical man many years ago. I will never forge that facd to face moment. Many year ago I was invited to an Iftar event organised by one of the governments offices. It was two years after the illegal invasion of Iraq by George Bush and Tony Blair. I didnt want to go at first but I was encouraged to attend by many of my friends. I arrived at the event, met many Muslim leaders and friends who I hadnt seen for ages. We were all munching on the finger buffet that was on offer when one of the event organisers announced that Mr Blair was making a surprise visit. I glanced at the faces of many people in that room but did not notice any disgust at the prospect of his imminent arrival. I was very upset by the announcement. I did not want to be at an event where a man who is responsible for causing the death of thousands of people and destruction of their properties. I stood aside and waited. He walked in with his security entourage and advisors. He had a huge smile all over his face, he walked in with a swagger and arrogance in his stride. I didnt like his attitude and noticed that most Muslim leaders were falling over each other to take pictures with him and shake his hands. I would never shake such a blood stained hand. He delivered his self righteous speech and looked around smugly for claps and appreciation. Some of the Muslim leaders clapped at his empty words. I was standing next to a few Iraqi ladies who were crying at the insult of just seeing that man. They were talking between themselves and saying, how dare he stands at an Iftar gathering and desecrate the sanctity of Ramadan iftar. Killing our families was not enough for him. It was announced that Blair is happy to take questions. I started walking towards the front so I could ask him a question. But his Muslim cronies stopped me and had the security guards blocking my way. I asked them why they were blocking my path. One of the Muslim advisors told me that I should not bother asking a question as it would not be welcomed. I stepped back and stood by the door watching the self gratifying event unfold and Blair adorers oggle at Blairs face and listen to his delusional words. It was sickening. I couldnt wait to get out but I was told I had to wait for Blair to leave first - security protocol. As Blair was walking towards the door one of his fans cried out, Mr Blair have you signed the guest book? I would be happy to sign it, replied Blair, where is it? The guest signing book was right in front of me on a table. It must have been the divine will that Blair would have to come right in front of me and sign the guest book. There he was, inches away from me, I could smell the aftershave he was wearing and could see right through his thinning hair. As he hunched down and started signing the book I spoke. I asked my question in firm but polite tone. Mr Blair, are you going to apologise for your illegal Iraq war, it has resulted in the death of thousands and displacement of millions? He looked at me with sharp, piercing and annoying eyes and said, I dont believe my policy was wrong. I raised my tone slightly higher and the entire audience could hear me very clearly. Mr Blair, your hands have blood on them, you are responsible for the death of thousands of father, mothers, sons and daughters. Are you going to apologise to the people of Iraq? He looked visibly distraught and extremely annoyed. You are wrong he left the room fast with these words. I responded, you should be ashamed of yourself Mr Blair. The least you can do is sorry. I was immediately surrounded by the Muslim advisors of Blair and civil servants from different departments and they were unhappy with what I had done. One such crony told, Ajmal Masroor, how could you do that? You would never be invited to another government organised event. We are disappointed with you. I remember that encounter vividly as Blair does it again. He is denying any connection with the unstable Iraq and the regional turmoil with his illegal war and unethical foreign policies. He has certainly lost his marbles and no one should take his words seriously. In fact he should be tried in the Hague for illegal war and crimes against Iraqi people.
