Tony Dekker; All human institutions -- nonprofit, government, religious, whatever -- act primarily to maintain themselves in the status quo. They can and do eventually sacrifice their stated purpose in doing so. Look at some of the corrupt corners of Christendom. Look at government departments that theoretically serve the people. Look at businesses that theoretically serve their stockholders. Try editing the encyclopaedia that anyone can edit. Reformation turns that on its head. Reformation says purpose first. Reformation comes (through the Spirit of God) from outside. Reformation asks what is really good? and what is really true?. Reformation puts new systems in place. Yet Reformation inevitably decays into yet another human institution, so it always needs to be reformed again. SEMPER REFORMANDA! Great stuff.
