Tony woke up with 3 layers of blankets on him this morning. Sometime around 3 this morning his temperature dropped to 95 for no apparent reason. The nurse said it is not uncommon for people with spinal cord injury to have temp fluctuation. Also his spams are coming back with a vengeance . We thought we had them under control but all this rehab seems to be waking things up. Thats a good thing!! Tony started a new therapy today on a stationary bike with electric nerve/muscle stimulation. The therapist said all his nerves & muscles were firing . Now they need to fire because his brain tells them to & not from the electrodes . Hes graduated to running his wheelchair with his hand now but his arm & shoulder both tire quickly. Its just like a baby learning to walk. Hes having to learn all this over again. Oh how it hurts my heart to see him this way but God has given us so many miracles that it eases our pain. We know its going to take some time but all of us will be stronger because of it. Tammy & I came home today for the first time in quite awhile. We both felt guilty for leaving him but all the nurses & friends weve met there said they would take care of him till Kim got there . He is at a point now where theyre teaching him how to do things on his own without parents there to help. Thats tough on us to see him struggling on minor things- major to him tho. God will see us thru this & well all be better for it. It has definitely been a humbling experience for all of us .
