Too cool. Beats paying someone to replace your light covers/bulbs etc, charge you for parts and labor and then find out all they did was clean the ones you had like this.....ahhh how the screws tighten. Gyped off. There are mechanic shops out there like that. A guy next door in the old apts showed me this on my Dakota & Dodge van we used to have. So many underhanded tricks mechanics use to get big bucks out of people. Be wise...not burned and wiser that way. Some will give you courtesy checks on things and while they are checking, loosen things up so youll come back to have them replaced. Or they will do half the job (brake job) and when your brakes start screaming their rotors off, you go back 4 times (and it just gets worse) and they still cant find the blasted problems; so you take it to another shop and BINGO BAM!!!!! They find the cheap pads (I had ceramics on) on it, no sealant to the brakes and calipers is so old that its all rusted. Try to get it off and the bolts break. So these new guys check all the brakes FOR FREE, TAKE ME INSIDE THE SHOP THERE, EXPLAINED & SHOWED ME EVERYTHING; and I realize we just blew 480.00 at the first shop. A freaking DODGE DEALERSHIP.SUPOOSEDLY TOP NOTCH SERVICE DEPARTMENT...and they couldnt tell from all the oil spilling out ALL OVER EVERYTHING, that SOMETHING BIG WAS WRONG!!! IT WAS RUSTED, calipers was history!!!!!!! THEYRE BUSTED! The new shop replaced it/fixed their bullcrap for 295.10 (gave me all kinds of discounts-went in for an oil change and inspection evaluation and engine coding check-which means with discounts, I got oil change for 12.00, all other things checked on the vehicle (with me present) and front brakes done). I should have gone to them in the first place. I learned my lesson-broken trusts. I now have the right kind of oil in the vehicle and I have ceramic brakes with new hoses to the calipers and new front calipers!!! And now it really runs like an Angel. I do not have STUDID painted across my forehead where it comes to my BABY BLUE (2005 DODGE DURANGO). Sorry for venting on your page Vanessa. But this post of yours hit the nail on the head about knowing and learning automotive stuff about your car(s). I have a radar built into me that immediately notifies me when I am being jacked around with. I may never get my $$$ back, but I am never going back there to that dealership again. And Ive filed written reports on them with Chrysler Auntomotive Corp & the local BBB HERE. (Better Business Bureau). Vehicles already cost a fortunate and being taken on a ride that racks up $$$ we dont have to spend....every little bit of saving wisdoms help all of us. Thanks for the post.
