Too many people hurry through life, travelling the interstates, in - TopicsExpress

Too many people hurry through life, travelling the interstates, in a hurry to get to their destinations. My family and I choose to take the road less travelled, stopping here and there in small town America, seeing and experiencing things that my children will remember for the rest of their lives. Hearing stories from people, real people, and knowing that just a few miles between towns can change your life in ways you could never realize. Just the other day, on the way south to the coast, we stopped at a little place, my youngest son needed to be changed and fed, and as I stood outside of the car, and older gentleman spoke to me for a bit. He told me of his travels around the world with the military and afterwards as a merchant marine. Of how he grew up in the little town of 300 or so souls that we were in, and of his concern of the future and what I thought of it. I can honestly say that I enjoyed our little chat, and we both shared the same concerns even though we were far apart in age and experience. He made me think of just how precious family is, as his had all passed away, and how great this country really is. Some people may think I am crazy to just strike up conversations with total strangers, but even best friends start out as strangers, and I have made many a friend out of them. Open your hearts, get off the interstates, and experience America the way it should be, one small town after another, each with its own story to tell.
