Too many veterans return home from combat suffering from PTSD or other mental illnesses but never access the resources available to help them get well. And, tragically, an estimated 22 veterans take their own lives each day. Today, the House took a major step forward in curbing this alarming epidemic by unanimously passing the Clay Hunt SAV Act, which increases the accessibility and effectiveness of VA mental health care and suicide prevention programs. We must continue to help our nation’s heroes—the brave Americans who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our national security—by ensuring they receive the best possible care and support upon their return home.
