Too many years I wondered why you dont want me, why I so desperately searched for approval in such a small human being. I remember crying on the front steps waiting for you to come pick me up, never once thinking you wouldnt show up, but you never did. I remember the tears my mother cried because she had to support three kids with three jobs which meant missing out on watching her children grow. I remember sitting with my sister and praying hard that youd love us, that we could fix ourselves so youd appreciate us more. But you did teach me to be a man. You showed me everything I shouldnt do. Nothing can take back all those years of pain but Im putting it to good use now. Maybe something positive can come from all that negativity. I dont think Ill ever be able to let go but if this isnt moving on I dont know what is. I just wish that out of all the people Ive been able to help you could be one of them. If you see this, Merry Christmas dad, wherever you are.
