Too often, i think, we believe so strongly in how we think love should be, that we lose sight of the exquisite mess love actually is. We become addicted to the feeling of falling, and sooner or later life forces us to come down leaving us hurt, angry and resentful. Inevitably we are eventually off chasing that same high, still believing in a complete myth, only to come crashing down again and again, harder and harder. Love isnt that high. Love is painful and messy and difficult. Love is seeing the absolute worst in someone, seeing their soul stripped bare during the worst of times and loving that person even more for allowing themselves to be vulnerable enough to show it to you. No drug lasts forever and to fool yourself into believing it should is to leave yourself facing disappointment over and over again. And the fact is, that in the end, actual love is so much more than some temporary high anyway
