Too often when I read about something being number 1 from the state of Mississippi, its negative. But it was great to read about the remarkable success of Mississippi States football program and my cousin David Turners role in it! Five weeks ago, Mississippi State football was on the outside of the national polls preparing for a road game at LSU. On Sunday, the program completed the fastest rise from unranked to the nation’s No. 1 team in the history of the polls. For the first time in the 119-year history of MSU football, the Bulldogs are America’s new No. 1 team in both the Associated Press poll and the USA Today Coaches Top 25.
