Took Dar to Grand Rapids to see the liver doctor that comes from Detroit to GR once a month. Her MELD numbers have gone from 23 (anything 25 or over means you need a liver transplant) down to 6. She is very happy about that. He told her she came close to dying. He told her to keep taking her medication or she will go right back to where she started, turning yellow and she will surely die if she stops taking it. Instead of going every 2 weeks for blood work, she only has to go once a month. The blood work is to check for cancer, because this medication causes cancer. He told her it will take another 3 months before she starts getting any of her energy back. He also said her liver is not working and never will. Her body is still treating her liver like it is a foreign object, and is trying to get rid of it. He said what she has is hereditary, so she told Kelly and Misty that if they notice any yellowing of their skin or eyes, to get to the doctor.
