Took Nev this morn to tutoring (8th grade math is about to be the death of them ALL) with the Amazing Tiffany Powers, owner of our little VR bookstore, Books By Design. While he was there, Owyn and I went on a walk. We walked all around downtown.. In front of the Powell House.. And finally up to the cemetery. Hes easily freaked out this year, so I wasnt sure he want to walk around it. Ive LOVED graveyards my whole life.. And I must say, O did as well. He was interested in the dates.. How old folks were when theyd died.. Etc. We ran across some smaller graves.. I explained to him those were childrens graves. Some were babies. He paused.. And stared. Really thought about it. He then says, well, that little boys body is still 4 but in heaven hes his regular age. Was the neatest comment. (He then stated he wanted to dig them up and look. May sound odd but I always wanted to do that, too. Weird, I know). Then he starts picking up stranded flowers.. Old ones, that looked like theyd blown off graves long ago. He placed all the homeless flowers he could find on the kids graves.. All on his own. I asked him why he was doing that and he simply stated, I just want them to be happy. He then told me he was hungry so we walked back to downtown and ate at Chat-n-CHOO. He asked me if he could have the chocolate chip pancakes. Yes son, you sure can.. :) Hes an amazing kid. We have a gem of a town. Park one day and just wander the sidewalks. Go to Books By Design. Wander the cemetery. Eat at local eateries. I promise youll be glad you did.
