Took in a mini Woody Allen film fest earlier this evening. I forgot how much I love the film Radio Days and how the New Years Eve scene at the end moves me. Ugh! Nice sentimental cry... :( I am, of course, too young to have lived in the 1930s-40s, but the residue of my parents lives lingered in ours....the music, the radio playing all day, the interesting and colorful characters in our family...aproned women, rough-city grown uncles...even the rain slick streets reminds me of old Detroit. Ugh! Like the stories truth...everything big and little of our lives eventually passes away and, in time, fades... no one remembers them. But I remember them....all the people, faces, music and movement around our house. I am not one to say that the good old days were better; much has been learned and improved. On the other hand, something precious and innocent.. simple and charming...has surely been lost. Its a powerful little flick. youtube/watch?v=xioICtn1a4I
