Took my 10th grade daughter on a college tour yesterday just to get her feet wet. Some friends are surprised that shes starting to look so early, but the college admissions officer who opened the program yesterday said 9th and 10th grades are the perfect years to begin touring and considering options. At this particular school, theyre in the process of selecting 4,000 students for next years freshman class from a pool of 14,000 applications. Starting early allows your students to consider what classes theyll need to take in coming years, where to focus their energies and what colleges might be the best overall fit for them. So just like Im setting goals and plotting my writing, speaking and coaching To Do lists, my Mini-Me is beginning to do the same in regard to her life after high school - in a no-stress/be open to possibilities - kind of way. My 6th Grader tagged along, and on the way home, he started listing the colleges he plans to apply to someday.... (Am I ready for this??) :) #StartEarly #DreamBig #WorkHard #KeepItFun
