Took my wife out to the movies to see TMNT. *sigh* It wasnt even a little bit bad. Theres a moment where Shredder says Tonight I dine on turtle soup. -- theres a scene where Splinter does a Pai Mei moustache/whisker swipe -- and what is a minor note to many, but an infinitely cool moment is when the Turtles are romping through the city and perform the opening moves from the TV Show/Video Game. Michael Bay doesnt know what the hell the Turtles are supposed to look like. I hate their weird mouths, but he gets THE HELL out of what the Turtles are. And theyve never been this adept at being action stars/super heroes on their own in any other big screen movie. Damn. I owe myself a Coke. I hate Coke. Apparently Michael Bay was reined in by someone, a producer, or he REALLY gets it -- in which case, give him Transformers money for the next Turtles movie - because the ending of the movie was awesomely awesome. Its a kids movie....but its a damn sight better than most other kids action fare. It does enough right for me, a Turtles fan to want to see a big screen sequel. I feel coming out of this one the way I did coming out of Amazing Spider-Man. I am cautiously optimistic.
