Top 10 Favorite Distinctive Vocalists #5 Hansi Kursch- The Mercury of Metal. For the genre of Rock fans, they have Freddie Mercury to look up. For the genre of Power Metal fans, we have Hansi Kursch. Highly influenced by Freddie, Hansi incorporates a lot of overlaid vocals in his songs where the songs sound like they are being played by a large choir where it is just one singer singing multiple ranges and putting them together. None more of a better example then Hansis song Chant. Aside from his Freddie inspiration technique, how Hansi stands out from most other vocalists in this genre and being seen as one of the best if not the best vocalist in the genre is his technique of having one of the better raspy violent powerful voices out their while staying pitch perfect with even a great melodic sound. Hansi truly possesses having one of the most beautiful soft clear voices youd ever hear. Hearing him going from one extreme vocal range to the complete other side in an instant without ruining his voice and giving you vivid emotions through the lyrics can be quite astounding. Hansi is one of my top 3 vocal saviors in my life. He and two other people I came across almost simultaneously while I was trying to repair my bitter heartbroken wounds 10 years ago. Hansi helped pave the way for my escapism of reality. More thanks to his love of the fantasy genres of books and film that he incorporates in his music with his band, Blind Guardian, it was very easy for me to use my Imaginations from the Other Side and continue to fight on forward. Giving me a happy place during a time of dwelling. Hansi has enough force behind his voice to persuade you into believing that the stories of which he sings are of his own experience and not just works of fiction. He is right there in that battle fighting with all of his spirit, or trapped in a cage ready to burst out of their and fly to freedom where the vast lands below are his visions of beauty.
