Top 10 Missions of 2014 #4- Mayhem in the Meadowlands at MetLife Stadium The Mayhem Games is the biggest functional fitness competition of its kind, and they invited OEW up to MetLife Stadium in May to compete. This was a completely different audience from the OCR crowds. I didnt participate, as I am not one of the masked athletes. But I did take videos such as this one and uploaded almost immediately to the OEW channel on YouTube, within minutes. Not only was I taking video, but I was also tasked with helping at our tent as well as helping carry equipment, etc for the team during or in between the different WODs. For OEW, this was a brand new avenue to present ourselves, and we were super well received by the crowd and the event as a whole. One thing we noticed off the bat was that compared to an OCR or any other kind of race, this was all centralized in one spot, meaning we always had eyes on the MAT team, even with event cameras capturing live feeds up top during the No Man Left Behind WOD. Much of the OEW and OCA community already do CrossFit as it is anyways, so this kind of event was already an excellent fit. Being here is leading to some upcoming collaboration in 2015, and I am really looking forward to seeing how so. The one thing that strikes me that keeps this as #4 instead of #3 is the fact that you have to qualify at your CrossFit box in order to be eligible to compete at the event. That means presence of OCAs, the backbone to the OEW organization, will be limited to none. But we made due with solely OEW staff, and it was an excellent opportunity and experience.
