Top 5 Music Challenge Day 4: Lyrics are poetry. It doesnt matter if they are serious or abstract, they are poetry. And I personally believe that one person wrote this poetry better than anyone else. Paul Simon. Nobody has ever had the ability to transport me to a single date and time like him. Nobody else has made had that much sympathy for a person Ive never met. Nobody else has so perfectly described things like love, divorce, sunlight, culture, joy and despair to me. And he did it through music. Hes my favorite poet...it just happens that he puts his poetry to some incredibly awesome music. I was whistling Me and Julio in the car in third grade, singing Cecelia by 7th and learning the chords to Call Me Al in 12th grade. To this day I still sing along. Someday our children will dance and sing along. The music is timeless. And he continues to create it. As of right now, this is what I consider to be the best poem ever put to music. Its funny, they call him Rhymin Simon. But he didnt even need to rhyme to sound like he was doing it. youtu.be/l3LFML_pxlY
