Top European scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen believes Liverpool have signed a potential star in Lazar Markovic - who could go on to be worth DOUBLE the £20million they paid for him. The Serbian winger completed his switch to Anfield last week as Brendan Rodgers summer spending spree continued. Rodgers claimed he had signed a rare and exciting talent, who he hoped would get even better under his guidance on Merseyside. And according to scout Karlsen - who has monitored Markovics progress closely - he can go on to become a real gem. He told the Liverpool Echo: There’s no doubt that Markovic belongs to a select group of top European talent. I know Liverpool fans appreciate a technically gifted player and they will get just that with Markovic. His technical ability stood out and even at just 17 he effortlessly slid past opposing defenders. His one v one skills were breathtaking already back then. The Reds have paid close to £20million for Markovic - taking their summer spending to close to £60million. Some believe the fee is too high for a 20-year-old but Karlsen thinks he will go on to be worth considerably more. He added: There’s always a slight concern that foreign players will end up not settling in to the Premier League, but for me the key factors are the intrinsic quality and the potential of the player. Liverpool may have forked out more than £20 million for Markovic, but we’re talking about a player that was monitored by all the top clubs in Europe and what they are paying is the going rate for the top talents. If Markovic delivers on his potential, he’ll eventually be worth at least twice as much. Really excited by this signing.. reds we have done some great business so far. i dont know who our best signing is so far.. its hard to decide.. Lambert is a great addition as will be Can...markovic as well but in my opinion we havent bought a bad player in any of them and there is more to come..
