Top Government Officials Dump APC For PDP In Zamfara Top government officials in Zamfara who belong to Gov. Abdulaziz Yari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration are gradually resigning from their appointments and leaving the party. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Malami Yandoto and three directors-general, Alhaji Mustapha Bukkuyum of the governor’s office, Alhaji Shehu Yanware of the Directorate of Inter-Party Relations and Alhaji Haruna Jangebe of the Directorate of Non-Governmental Organisations had resigned their appointments in the last one month. Yandoto was said to have dropped his resignation letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government on May 21. After which he declared in a local radio station in Gusau that he had not only resigned but also defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The commissioner who according to report was close to the governor told his supporters at his home in Tsafe that he could no longer work with the government. While receiving Yandato into the party, the interim Caretaker Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Adamu Danja said many more top government officials in the state have faith in the party and have expressed their willingness to join the party. According to Danja all those who decamped and their supporters would be formally received at a grand reception in the state very soon. In his reaction, the APC spokesman in the state, Alhaji Sani Gwamna, said the party was unshaken by the actions of the defectors, adding that they would realise their mistakes soon and return to the APC. It would be recalled that earlier this month, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state lost no fewer than 1,000 members to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Also in May about 7,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, dumped the opposition party for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). NAN
