Top O The Late Morn Everyone! Happy New Year-2015! It will be a little warmer today with partly sunny skies and highs around 30 with brisk winds WSW at 15-25 MPH. When we were little the thought if dating anything with other than a 19 was something far away and unattainable! We Boomer Babies of the Late forties and fifties were entertained by listening to stories of the war, reenacting being Gis and Nazis or Japs falling to the ground when shot by our realistic toy guns! The movies we saw were full of war and science fiction about the deadly effects of the Atom Bomb on lizards, insects and groundhogs and how they became giant creatures that destroyed all in their path. Travels to outer space and robots serving our every need was another popular theme as well as good old Western shoot em up movies. In our time we saw the devastation of those two bombs on Japan in cancers and illnesses on succeeding generations. We saw the first space flights the 60s and men on the moon in 1969! Our generation also saw men returning from war and being treated by the some of the populous as criminals and we saw more woman in jobs with families becoming a new norm. Women also took to the streets and demanded rights as did Black people demand equality! Who had time to think of the year 2000....let alone 2015? Fifteen years into the new millennium we reminisce about Back in the day but we really should look and see what our Boomer Generation has accomplished. There is now an International Space station where astronauts and scientists all over the globe travel to and study our universe. Our movies are realistic and the Space adventures are of a Galaxy far, far away. Men and women come home from war and are once again hailed as heroes. Communism has taken a back seat on our agenda of worries and we now combat religious zealots who rein terror on their own citizens as well as threaten our very democracy! How a few of these terrorists brought us to our knees in one day of terror by commandeering our own airplanes and flying them into buildings killing thousands! How on that very day, in the early seconds of the new millennium, did a group of brave passengers on one of those Hell bound flights take one back from the blade wielding terrorists and crash it into a Pennsylvania countryside rather than allow them to get to Washington D.C.! After the tragedy how the American people show we were not going to allow anyone take our freedoms away from us! How computers, once housed in great room and buildings have been refined to the point that everyday folks can use one as small as their pocket! We have been around seven decades and have seen, marveled, participated in so much! Our world I now is better for the next generations to take over and we should always be there in an advisory position for the new generations as long as one of us should live. We did good!
