Top-Tips on not getting contagious diseases (like colds and flus, etc) 1. Get enough rest 2. Drink enough water 3. Eat right 4. Dont stand too close to other people-especially when talking (especially do not put your heads together and whisper). If your can smell their perfume, youre probably too close. If you can smell their breath, you definitely are. 5. Do not touch stuff (especially things lots of people touch, like elevator buttons, light switches, doornobs, the backs of chairs or benches in front of you in the row, shopping carts, etc.) If you have trouble with this, try keeping your hands in your pockets or wearing gloves. Things others must touch that you must touch (like your office doornobs and a public keyboard) should be wiped down with a germ-killing cleaner often. Wash after using them, ad dont touch your face. 6. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth *at all.* If you are a nail-biter or have an oral fixation (such as chewing on toothpicks) and find it hard to keep your hands away from your face, try putting something with a distinctive smell (preferably something you dont like) on your hands like scented lotion, citric oil, cologne or even a dab of bleach, so that when your hands get close to your face you smell it and remember to keep your hands away from your face. 7. Wash your hands frequently (like on the hour or 3 set times a day), AND whenever you touch something questionable AND before you have to touch your face. Cary and use hand-sanitizer when you cannot wash with soap and water. 8. Dont share food, cups, utensils or eat out of common serving containers (like a bag or bowl of chips, a cup of dip, etc) 9. Dont share any personal items that might come in contact with the hands or head, such as pillow cases, towels, toothpaste, etc. 10. If you must cough or sneeze, do it into a tissue, your shirt or jacket, your armpit or elbow, or some other very confined space that nobody else will touch. Encourage others to do the same.
