Top-class Friesian horses at the Central Inspection in Drachten - TopicsExpress

Top-class Friesian horses at the Central Inspection in Drachten this weekend This Friday and Saturday the Central Inspection in Drachten once again promises to be a huge treat for breeders. The best Friesian mares will put in an appearance hoping to secure the most coveted predicates, Crown or Model, and to join the race for the Overall Championship. The Pavo Phryso Cup has been renewed and this Youngster Dressage and Driving Competition is guaranteed to be exciting right through till the end. Again many entries Last year, the number of entries at the Central Inspection broke all records and again this year a comparable number of horses have qualified on breeding days. This year´s class of Crown mares at the Central Inspection is somewhat smaller because from now on they are only eligible to take part on the basis of a selection procedure. The classes for Star mares however have grown with 15 participants. A new line of policy has been introduced to make breeders less reluctant to enter their Star mares for breeding days. This seems to be working now that Star mares will not be given a second premium and selection for the Central Inspection takes place on breeding days. The inspection of the 4- to 6-year-old Star mares has been relocated to the Friday because it was generally thought that Saturday´s programme was too long these last few years. Inspections of Youngster classes, yearling- and 2-year-old mares as well as foals will also take place on Friday. Just like in previous years the Foal Championship will be held outdoors. Friesian Queen The Central Mare Inspection is even more of a breeding happening than the Stallion Inspection. Those mares that come closest to the breeding goal will be rewarded with the Crown or Model predicates. But obviously, we shouldn´t forget which stallions are making their influence felt in the top regions of the population. With 21 offspring it is once again the Preferent Beart 411 who comes in first position this year as the most important sire of horses at the inspection. However, this year he must share this honour with Tsjalle 454. Considering that his oldest offspring have only just turned three this is quite a remarkable feat for Tsjalle. Without doubt, the climax of the Central Inspection is the nomination of the Overall Champion, the Queen of Friesian horses. The judges came up with a rather surprising winner last year when they awarded the title to a 2-year-old. The fact that this mare, the now 3-year-old Norbert 444 daughter Janneke B., also lay claim to the Title of the Day at the breeding day in Ambt-Delden this year, definitely makes her a genuine favourite for this year´s title as well. Pavo Fryso Bokaal The competition for 4-, 5- and 6-year-old horses has undergone some changes this year and from now on will be called: The Pavo Fryso Cup. The changes are most noticeable in the dressage competition. The pre-selections have been reduced in number and given a more professional approach with dressage riders of name and fame acting as the judges. The finals will be held on Friday and have an interesting new addition to them. The three horses who come out on top in all four classes will be taken for a test ride by the judges Diederik van Silfhout and Benjamin Maljaars. This assessment will also contribute to the ultimate choice of horses who will be declared champion. The finals for the Youngster Show Driving Classes have again been scheduled for the Saturday. Starting this year this class is no longer open for 3-year-olds but even so, there is no change in the number of finalists compared to last year. Driving and show driving Actually, there have been quite a few changes to the set-up of the Central Inspection. It´s also the first time that the KFPS Outdoor Driving Competition will take place during this year´s Central Inspection. On Friday the best combinations of this last summer season will compete against each other in the outdoor arena. The Hippiade Championships Ladies´ Class and Two-in-hand have also been programmed for the Friday afternoon. Just like last year, Saturday´s programme will see a few show driving classes with the ‘Prize of the Best’ as the final show piece in which all champions of the various classes will challenge each other. All in all, we can all look forward to some fascinating days with both breeding and the sport in the spotlight. On both days there is free entry for everyone!
