Top of the league tonight after a tough 2-0 win over St Francis out in Baldonnel. Francis set up to strangle the game with 5 and 6 across the back throughout the first half. Chances were few and far between and ironicaly Francis had the best of them 0-0 at H-T. Killester started the second half at a high tempo and soon had the first of their many chances. The breakthrough came in the 63rd minute when Kevin Corcoran fired home from close range following a Keogh corner. Torrrential rain threatened to ruin the game but both sides battled on. Despite being behind Francis persisted with just one up front and their only threat was high ball into the elements but this was easaly dealt with by the resoloute trio of Donnery, Murphy and Graham who made sure Keith had nothing to be concerned about. Both sides made substitutions midway in the half which changed the game. Francis brought on two midfielders who began to control the game but it was the Killester sub who had the greater effect. David Lacey came on and began to drive through the home defence. On one of those he fired over a great cross to his strike parter Mick Keogh who put it away with a glancing header to secure all three points for the league leaders.
