Topic: LOVE IS THE GREATEST FORCE IN LIFE! By: PASTOR FRANCE From: DIVINE KEYS DAILY DEVOTIONAL “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”- 1 Corinthians 13:13 Most often, when believers talk about the force that operates in Christianity, the first thing many think about is faith. Yes! All things are possible by faith; faith moves mountain etc. But beloved, faith can move nothing until it is springing from love. Love is the engine which makes faith to move. Without love, faith is impotent. Gal 5:6 says “ For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” . So the substance in faith which makes it produce great results is love. The word charity in the opening scripture means love; and it says when we put faith side-by-side love, love is the greater. In other words, the supernatural power that makes the force of faith relevant is nothing but love; and that is what 1 Cor 13:2b explains “ ...And though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.”. Until you are moved by love, your faith will not produce anything worth celebrating. The force which often moved our Lord Jesus Christ to do great works during His earthly ministry was compassion which also means love. “And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick” - Matt 14:14. “And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean” - Mk 1:41. “And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things” - Mk 6:34. So beloved, before you think about great faith, think first about great love, both towards God and man. There was a day someone came to Jesus desiring to know what the greatest of all the commandments is. Then one of them, ...asked him a question, ...saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”.- Matt 22:35-40 So do not bother to fulfill the commandments; just bother to fulfill love for God and man, and soon you will realize that you have automatically fulfilled all the demands of the commandments. The divine force that saved mankind was not faith but love (Jn 3:16). So beloved, concentrate on love, and you will not need much effort for your faith to produce results. Your character comprises qualities which you have developed over a period of time and have become your nature. Character development begins from our thought-pattern. Your mind is the platform upon which your character is developed. This is because the mind is the center of all actions in life. In short: your mind is you! “For as he thinketh in his heart so is he...”. Every step which a man takes on this planet earth is as a result of the kind of signal the mind gave to him. Developing one’s character therefore begins with ordering ones thought. Whatever thought you allow to linger on in your mind will eventually reveal itself in your actions; and whatever action you continually take ends up becoming your behaviour; and whatever behaviour you constantly exhibit eventually becomes your character. Right character development therefore begins with right thinking. Phil 4:8 says “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”. A person who often thinks about complaining or nagging when he or she encounters a challenge is actually developing a character of nagging or complaining.
