Topic: Leader and his encourager. Text: Judges 7:9-12 M.V. If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah...afterwards you will be encouraged to attack the camp (v.10-11) Woe unto that leader without an encourager; Empty is that leader without an encourager; Powerless is that leader that lacks encourager. Such a leader will not last; such a leader will one day give up; such a leader will fade away soon; such a leader will terribly fall. This flow of thought is derived from the above passage. When Gideon was tired, God told him to call his encourager to follow him. If such encourager was not there the task of delivering Israel from the Midianites would never be fulfilled. This tells us that any leader is nothing if there is no encourager. Even when a leader is not doing fine, he does not need to be crucified but to be encouraged. Through the encouragement given to him, he would be strengthened to perform better. But today people are fond of castigating, condemning and crucifying their leader. You must know that your leader is a human being like you not otherwise. Please support him, motivate him through your encouragement and prayer. Do not be conscious of his mistakes but be ready to encourage him even when he is not doing fine. May God help you to do so.
