Topic Tuesday: It could all be so simple…… If we think about it the differences that tear us apart on this planet are due to the fact that we are segmented. Whether by continent, country, state, city, race, religion etc., there is no wonder why we find it difficult to relate to one another. Let’s take “religion” in the U.S. for example. We are a country of immigrants…..yes everyone!! Our central faith is Christianity, and whether you know it or not there are 41,000 different variations of the Christian faith…..Yes 41,000!!! This means that there are 41,000 different interpretations on the same faith/bible. What does this mean for a prospective Christian? As I searched for my place in “Christian-dome” you can imagine how tough of a choice it was. I experienced Christians of different degrees that focused on different biblical events like, dooms day, resurrection day, Sabbath, new testament, old testament, the list went on and on. The interesting thing is that although we were talking the same faith, there was this underline feeling of separation between the beliefs. Needless to say, I didn’t like this. Relying on the multitude of interpretations of what was considered, “the right way” to practice my faith became nearly discouraging. At that point I realized, what better way to know someone but by seeking them out yourself. Sure you let someone else tell you about who someone is but you don’t truly know them until you form your own relationship. So I did what I had to, cracked my bible open for myself and formed a father/son relationship. With a clear understanding of how God loves me based on “our” relationship. I don’t see how the relationship I have with God could be any different than the 41,000 other interpretations right? The difference is that the relationship I formed with him is based on “my” need to know him and “my” desire for those values to be imprinted in my heart. “Hos 4:6 (NIV) My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” I am a Christian who celebrates “All” people who practices positive, productive faiths, no matter what it is. This approach allows me to appreciate people for who they are, which is key to achieving harmony. So, I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the “lunacy” of fanatics of every denomination be called “The will of God”. I have seen too much “religion” in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is your mind and your heart and what you decide to do every day, and your will to be a good man - or not. #GoToTheSource
